Aromaleigh hauls n pressing pigments

On saturday my Aromaleigh packaged arrived!

i was very excited to have gotten it because there were some samples i really wanted to try. namely the blush in nectar, e/s in orchid, asphalt and sage.

what is it with cats? you put a piece of scrap paper down on the floor and they just want a piece of the action. or rather, ON the action. here is my Mao Mao looking all innocent and adorable.

i did a rough swatch and they all ended up hard to show up on my arms. except maybe sage, which made me really happy. i recalled that pressing them would make the colors more intense possibly because they are more concentrated, so i went ahead and pressed a little bit. and then i swatched them in the following order.

i actually liked most of them except the purples, Lilac and Orchid. they were really hard to show up on me. i tried to use them together on monday but all i got was a whitish wash. maybe it'll be more apparent to people who looks at me. but meh, disapointed.

i love sage though, today i wore it with one of Meow's "Seafoam" which is a darker green but of the same shade. this combination kinda reminds of my Dior's "Watery Glow, 669" but greener, "Watery Glow" is more bluish.

tomorrow i'm thinking of wearing Asphalt, but i'm not sure what to pair it up with. maybe a simple gold.

I also pressed a sample of my Fyrinnae's samples. haha. i wanted to try different fixing mediums. I noticed that when i wore my Meow's the e/s make my lids heavy and that makes me sleepy. I wondered if it was the toner that i was using as a binder. anyways, here are the results.

Meerkat

Atomic Afterglow

Tempting Hansel-more of a purply blue to me.

Arcane Magic's Dragonmagic- I freaking luuuurve this color.

Lucky Charmed- I like this a lot too! i wore it with Dragon's Wings on Saturday and charmed the DH socks off. :P *lookintomyeyes, lookintomyeyes, lookintomyeyes and you're under...*

Dragon's wings - lovely green green with sparkles. after LuckyCharmed it's Snow Leopard and Koala. both were concentrated with the orange stuff.

i also made sifters for my jars, basically i had chocolate/cupcake cups and i realised that they fit! so i trimmed off the excess and poke holes and slot them in. VOila! sifter jars!

I collected my EDM package today but since i came back from my mum's rather late i think i will upload those photoes later...

Salzburg

during our first week in Munich, we made a side trip to Salzburg, the birth place of Mozart, as well the place where they filmed the Sound of Music.

we rented a car and took 3 of the DH colleges along. with me as the guide. haha, they're all at the mercy of my map navigating skillz/GPRS.

we managed to get there by late lunch. i made the DH take a small detour when we passed by another one of Bavaria many lakes.

Finally, Mozart's birth house. we didn't go in. as expected from any touristy location, full of tourists. :P

another romantic "by the bridge" picture

apparently they're still discoverying archeological important finds when they're renovating/reconstructing. same as when we were in Praque. that's the beauty of building over old foundations. it helps to preserve things very well.

the sunday market was in progress.

i grew up reading Enid Blyton so it was very exciting for me to see these babies. oh i eat them all the time, but we usually get them in their brown roasted shells already.

that's it for Salzburg. it's a small place and all the major sites can be covered on foot. i originally planned to see some other places but we ended up getting lost and felt it was safer to drive back to Munich. tt gets dark too early in autumn.

Praque

I don't suppose blogger wants to load properly on this computer anymore. huge bummer. so here goes, Praque in october of 2008.

actually im' just going to say that i love trout. it's amongst the most amazingly tasty fish i have ever eaten. the next best was some unknown fish in Shanghai (i suspect catfish but it was already cut up in pieces).

i also love the bread pudding in Praque, not to mention the goulash.

so anyways, we left Munchen for Praque from Hauptbahnhof, the central train station.

we arrived in the late afternoon while there was still light and went looking for our lunchner. afterwards we did some initial exploring round the new town.

modern shopping street.

Praque is famous for many eerie tales, as you can see from the scary looking churches and cathedrals.

however these buildings are full of history and are actually very pretty during the day.

we stayed in a backpackers lodge and our room could accomodate 3 but we requested for privacy.

the shared toilet is actually down the hall and lets just say i had to go to the loo many times. it's a long trek. luckily the windows in the toilet was double paned so it was not so cold during my twice a day shower.

even the hub caps are beautiful in this historical town.

there seem to be a freak cold spell when we were there (it did snow in germany) so it was very windy and cold during our entire trip. the mist and fog made the place rather sad.

if i were to remember correctly, the green domed building is a theater. praque is full of theaters and there are people performing almost nightly. emsembles and orchestras and singers and not to mention the numerous puppet shows. the churches all turn into mini theaters at night.

like i said, artists are everywhere. music fills the air and there's always something interesting to watch.

John Lennon's wall. when he was assasinated some guy grafittied on this wall, drawing his portrait. countless people have drawn over the original portrait.

i'm happiest when i am hiking.

a lovely couple taking their wedding photoes. i think they might actually be from China or Taiwan.

and finally, the Praque Castle at night, taken from the New town. the Castle is located across the bridge, at the Old town.

we left on a tuesday morning back into Munich to pick up our car and embark on our road trip.

german holiday - pt 3

Still at the Bodensee, but at the town of ... Omg I can't remember already. but i think it's where you can see the ballons. basically we drove around the whole of the Lake until the Swiss border.

the car door got frozen shut!

our lovely hotel in the black forest

after breakfast, we drove back downhill and proceeded to Colmar, a town at the French/German border. the site along the way was spectacular, it was a romantic christmas scene except that it was october.

on we go into France!

Colmar is a very well preserved medieval town and is also known as the Venice of France with it's many canals.

we walked around the town and had lunch. the place had a very christmassy atmosphere and i bought me the yummiest gingerbread man at a christmas treats shop. we also came across a mushroom shop. hee!!

after that we had to head back into Germany as the sun does set very early in autumn.

more snowcapped mountains. our night was spent at another town in the black forest.

in the morning, we explored the town and it specialises in coukoo clocks. haha. how do you spell that? how can we not visit the black forest and not come back with a cuukoo clock. heehee.. we got a small one.

after this we drove back toward Munich and stopped by another town of ??? for the night before our flight homw the next day. there's this darling plush shop...

i want everything in there!

i miss germany. i loved it when i was there. i would go back again if i have sufficient funds and leaves to take. :P:P:P

i will try to put up the rest of my european trip in the next intervening... days i hope. besides Bavaria we also went to Salzburg(day trip) as well as Praque.

korean hauls

my husband was in Seoul a few weeks ago and i gave him a rather long shopping list. to make things easier, i restricted my items from only Etude House and SkinFood and FaceShop. it rather amuses me that the reason for him to leave the hotel room besides going to work was only to eat, or to do shopping for me. the poor thing! even when i am not with him he seems to be shopping too...

i was about to run out of cleansing oil and face wash so that was included in the etude hauls. i also got the peeling kits since i am obsessed with removing dead skin as my pores clog easily and milia will form.

etude1

another lot of skin peels from the FaceShop. lovely stuff. the toe separators and samples were gifts, as well as the plastic bag underneath.

after he realised how cheap the sunblock were, the DH bought a couple more. we now have enough sunblock for the rest of the year! the DH knows a deal when he knows one. heeheehee!!

i love the masks from the FaceShop. most of them work more or less, but for the price there isn't very much to complain, except that they were a big big for my face.

sheet masks

various brushes from EtudeHouse and SkinFood

brushes

i rather like the skunk brush from etude and so far i'm using one of the e/s brush also from etude. it has a few hairs that poke but otherwise it is firm and i like it for blending. it is again a bit big for me. i like smaller brushed for more precise application since i like to go for super bright colours.

and finally some nail files and polishers

nail files

these were discovered by the DH on one of his previous trips. he was very excited with his find and is constantly showing off his shiny polished nails to me. i can never keep the shine on my nails from the constant washing and crafting and glue stuck on them. :P

lastly, i had a last minute list and they were some e/s. DH managed to get 2 out of the three. no pics for these :P

i must really thanks my very patient DH for offering to buy me things whenever he is away. the last time he got me ribbons from shanghai and i am very grateful for them.

my throat, nose and head is killing me. my is very "heaty" from durians and chempadaks! yummy tropical fruits with strong smells!

failure to load

okies. today i tried loading blogger at work, on both the MAC and the PC. the posting page loaded perfectly, with all the buttons. so it seems it's my computer's fault? :(((
