Too cool for School

So I've almost been gone for a year. Been lacking the energy to do nail art that requires more than a simple paint job.

This came into my life almost 3 months ago so I've only managed to paint my nails when I have help around. New born suzette

She now looks like this coming to 11 weeks old. 11 weeks.

Blah blah blah, just popped in to say that I spotted a new line of makeup in Korea last week so I grabbed some stuff despite not needing them. I'm kinda still on maternity leave so haven't had the need to prettify myself except for the weekends.

So here I present 'Too cool for School'. Too cool for school.

Offhand I can remember the BB mousse n blusher were 20000won. The mascara n the pink beauty blender may be less than 10000won. One boutique was spotted at The famous Myeongdong. I bought my stuff from a fashion street near Sinsa station at Gangnam. I believe this brand is fairly new since I've only spotted these 2 outlets.

Signing off now. I'm still painting my nails so I have not exactly abandoned this hobby. See y'all again.

Goodies in the bag Pt4

my cousin offered to help me get some things while he's on his belated European honeymoon so of course i just HAD to give him a list.

He stopped by London and got the saddlebag that i requested. it's a little smaller than i had anticipated and i regretted not ordering the diaper bag instead.

He also stopped by Paris and i made him go to one of my Favourite finds in Paris. The Fragonard perfumerie. my list included the "box of 10 mini perfume" as well as both the children's one

he only managed to get his hands on the children's set as the other was sold out. :( i'm currently wearing the Little Adventurer's scent and it's invigoratingly citrusy :)

Hershey's chocolate world has a new outlet in Tampines mall. Reeses peanut butter cups. 'Nuff said! LOL!!

Here's the cat looking fluffy.

End of "Hauls blogging" for this week. I must start to save up the extras for my trip in December. i will be in Melbourne for training and then some vacationing. Any recommendations makeup and nail polish wise? i'm also looking forward to fleas and craft shops too!

Goodies in the bag Pt3

Things came in the mail last week too! My Nars' 18% spree items arrived as well as some polishes from Nailvibe.

let's talk about the polishes.

after falling in love with Nars' Midnight Express and realising that there's no way i can get my grubby hands on them i went on a blue polish hunt. i settled for OPI's Dating a Royal; and of course i HAD to buy more than 1, my first Essies another gold for frankening and art.

Nars goodies. Luster blush, Hungry Hearts highlight bronzer duos and Barbarella lipstick.

i was in a bronzer mood when i ordered these so the colors are in the same tones.

here's a better color rep of Luster, which i am liking much more than Orgasm (i'm thinking of having a blog sale for that).

swatches from top to bottom: Luster blush, HUngry Hearts duo and Barbarella lipstick.

Hungry hearts is very glittery, which i am not overly fond of, but it does manage to give my cheeks a nice glow. definitely not bronzer material.

Barbarella is another peachy nude color but it is a bit on the sheer side and thus require more work on darker lips like mine.

Goodies in the bag Pt2

yes, the Takashimaya members extra 10% off.

the DH and i both got Casio watches at 'special' prices. heehee. both are black and matchy matchy. i'd take a nicer pix but he wore it to another work trip.

and this is also the first time i've ever gotton make up with the DH in tow. so embaressing! i caved in and bought myself the Lancome Teint Miracel Foundation. You can read all about it on one of my favourite beauty blogs;Rouge Deluxe.

i've only wore it for 2 days, but both days were sunny, hot and humid and i am glad to say that it's really light and comfortable. it also controlled oil well.

September Shoppingz Spam

what do you do when you have credit card vouchers? you buy more MU! muah ha ha. these departmental store vouchers came in handy as i was eyeing and dying to try some new stuff.

from Takashimaya i got the Shu Uemura Fall 2010 florescent palette (purple)(125.00SGD) as well as a Chanel Rouge Allure laque (No.76,Ming)

i shall not put up my shoddy attempt at swatching the Chanel as you can find some lovely swatches online(wink wink, Temptalia)

on the fashion front, i got some essential socks and some jumpers. I'm showing one here. got a total of 3 this month. i now have 4 and i wear them as often as i can!

i tried to capture all 4 in a photo but one will always be in the wash!

a couple more Japanese mags that the DH got from another trip.

OPI's were from the result of some Robinson vouchers and the CG and Orly i collectied from Gwen(Gwensprees,Onsugar) yesterday.

*Takes deep breath* Yep! that's quite a lot of shopping. I'm planning to go away in december so i'm trying to show restraint in the next month. like that will ever work. hahaha!!!

p.s. i'm expecting an OCC lip tar, MAC VenomousVillians (fingers crossed for the online availability), Drugstore.com, Kira Kira contacts and dollywink lashes.

Japanese goodies

while the DH is packing for another trip to Japan, imma put up some yummies he brought back from his last trip. pictured above are the soft and fluffy Camembert cheese cake. there's also some sweets from another of his Munich trips. Hanuka wafers, Hazelnut ballz and gummies.

don't we all love Japanese confectionary. picture taken straight from the refrigerator. it's been a month and we still have not open these boxes.

he even brought me some mags! I didn't ask for any cos it slipped my mind that he was going to 'zine heaven. this time round i'm sure to give him a list! :P

nubar and cherry culture hauls

i wanted to try nubar for some time, since it's BIG 3 free. i'm trying to avoid certain chemicals since we're trying to get preggers. uh huh. (i'm still reliant on seche vite, some things i just won't give up)

i managed to find a seller on evil bay with reasonable prices and decent shipping. all in all i paid 109SGD for these 10 bottles. not too shabby.

i got some chocolates, coral, green and glitter, plus their base coats. so far so good. i'm not fond of the small brush that picks up too little polish at a time.

i've also made use of the Cherry Cultre 20% back to school sale to haul some polishes that i refuse to pay retail for. i'm a cheapskate.:P

actually, together with the shipping i ended up paying a dollor or 2 less than retail. LOL! at least i got to try Sinful Colors.

i've also gotten addicted to buying crystals. be prepared to see these being used heavily in the next series of NOTDs.

blings are so easy to use when in a creative funk. plus i like shiny things.

check out the ombre shades. i want to get more!

Coastal scents and Hakuhodo Hauls

When Coastal Scents had a 20% back to school discount, i hauled some items that i wanted to try badly, namely a flat top buffer brush (i was using minerals foundations for a while and the short handled kabukis that i was using were a little too hard to hold) and a pointy pencil es brush. i also got the african black soap that was receiving excellent reviews, not just on the coastal scents site (i do my research eh heh heh heh).

the delux buffer brush(BR216) is very soft and feels luxurious. it's made with animal hair so there is a smell(and so do the Hakuhodos). what i don't like about it is that it's not densely packed and the hairs with spray outwards. not useful for when you want to buff foundation. so what i did was to hold the hairs with elastic bands so i get a smaller but dense brush head. it works well this way.i'm using the Bourjois Mineral Matte mousse foundation with this brush.

i also did a litle investment in the Hakuhodo brushes that Misschievious raved about a long time back. i've always found brushes prickly and sometimes scratchy on my sensitive skin so hopefully these will be soft as clouds.

here's a comparative pic of the pencil brush from Coastal scents(top) and Hakuhodo(bottom)

the hakuhodo brush is clearly better made, the bristles are soft with the natural tip intact and it's also firm but soft. the Coastal scents brush has a scraggly top and does not feel as dense. i have not tried it yet but i have used the Hakuhodo pencil brush for my inner eye corners (will poke) but works well on the outer corners for contouring

the big pointed blush brush is also dense but soft. i love the fact that it's pointed so i can blush near my nose to produce that sunburnt look or some simple contouring. it's does feel scratchy sometimes but i think that's because i'm super sensitive or that i'm going againt the direction of the hair.

the other Hakuhodo e/s brushes i got are smaller and thinner and are good for packing e/s but not for blending (i still like my Elf e/s brush for that). what i like about them is that after picking up the e/s and placing them on my lids, i don't discern any pigment left on the brushes, so there isn't any wastage of pigments.

here's a pretty picture of the brushes amongst my collection of cones from various vacation trips.

so that's my mini review on the brushes that i got. the shipping at Hakuhodo is farly reasonble so if i ever feel like another splurge i'd defintely get my brushes from them again.
