it's a good change: feeding stray cats

i saw this poster at my mum's block last night.

i think it is a good way to deal with the aunties and uncles who feed the strays out of the kindness of their hearts. it is so much better than telling them not to feed the cats or have AVA coming around once in a while to cull them. ;__;

i've lost many a cute cats from my area possibly due to capture and cull.

but i also think that the aunties from around my place feed the cats way too much. there's always so much left over cat food everywhere. it's not a surprise that the rest of the residents complain about the mess. it's really not a pretty sight, especially wet canned food.

i must contact the Cat Wellfare society to spread their message here.

Averie's Day

my cousin gave birth today via caesarian birth. the girl girl didn't descend to the correct position and the umbilical cord was entangled over her shoulder so the doctor decided to cut her out. haha. sounds horrible. it is horrible. don't think that caesarian birth is the easy way out. altough you might feel no pain during the birth, remember that you'll now have this huge wound across your belly that will take at least a month to seal and maybe 6 months to heal properly.

we were also at the science center today. tomorrow we will once more ignore the house work and go to the Toy n Comic expo at Suntec City

manic monday

day 1 of the bazaar passed and i am tired! OMG! i'm so not cut out for tending a stall/shop. 2 more days to go. i hope tomorrow will be a busier day(in terms of sales of course). i'm glad i have a friend and the DH to help out cos we do all need our tea and pee breaks. tomorrow the DH will go off again so it's only my friend and me.

a fellow stall holder suggest that i try the red dot museum instead. she says it's all hand crafty things there so the crowd may be more recepient. but the situation here today is that there wasn't any crowd. so unlike what i remembered many years ago. boo...

we got our new washing machine on sunday. it's so water conserving that i don't even see water in the drum! at least the older machine looked wetter despite being a water conservation model as well. i keep suspecting that the new machine is faulty in it's water estimate, and my cloths won't come out clean. hmm... this problem needs to be resolved.

big flying cockroach

the cat was stalking something in the toilet and it was a huge cockroach. it was not flying. *phfew* so i attacked it with a baygone spray. the spray was... shall i say very effective. as i watch the big brown thing flop over and twitch its crunchy legs i felt bad. really bad. normally i have to spray insecticide at them flying things while they escape and take a really long time to expire and usually i just pick up the weak but not yet dead creature and flush them down the loo. but tonight, the concentrated spray (through a long nozzle) really killed that bug. and it just died. it's really horrible to see something expire. :(

my mum's plant flowered and they are the cutest things. i couldn't stop looking or touching them. so velvety. and they smell sorta stinky and sweet at the same time. i can fit this whole bunch into my palm. and i gots small hands.

today has been a very productive day. i made cookies and tart shells and pieced the entire collection of fuzzy charms.

the whip cream will take another day or so to dry completely before i can varnish them and glue into place. right now i've got a couple of completed ones and the rest assembed but not glued/varnished. i'm so pleased with these.

tomorrow i'll have to finish up my birdie collection. and hopefully make a few more before my arm and shoulder stiffen up.

and the reason why my photoes look so fuzzy is because i've been taking them with my phone, which boasts a 8 or 10 MB resolution but since my hands seem to be trembly lately so... and i still think no matter what an actual camera will always do better than a hp.

my toilet smells like cat wee

sighs. i wish that my apartment has a rubbish chute attached. so i can dump rubbish away immediately. so i don't have to dress up just so to throw away smelly bags of eated foods and kitty wee.

so.. i made quite a few good stuff this weekend. i turned some cupcake into studs, finished up my 'easter' earrings, bird tree, love dove, and my absolute fave, little red riding hood complete with the BIG BAD WUFF.

just too bad that the DH has hijacked the camera away in china. so no pictures. right now i'm starting on the 3 little piggies, and another BiG BAD WUFF.

what other fairy tales would you like to see on your ears?

i'm bored and i want to go home

it's finally pouring. yay! no more aching knees and stuffy air. and an apartment that's like a sauna.

i feel so restless. i want tomorrow night to come quickly because the DH is coming home! yay! deep deep down i cannot survive 2 weeks of him away. one week is tolerable and the days fly away quickly but anything more than 7 will make me restless and tetchy. aaarrgghh! it's not 3 yet.

me is all excited about needle felting. i'm itching to buy all the equipment and start making something. :P of course i cannot. not yet. must resist. grrr..

i envy people with great designs and creative ideas. i admit that i am a copy cat. meow. purr. purr. i'll just trawl the internet for ideas and steal them! meh! ok la. i don't copy exactly mah. hor?!

anyways if you have any thing that you want made you can let me know. maybe i can custom make for you.

which reminds me. i have many pendants waiting to be finished. not tonight. me going shopping.

toodles.

last week's stash

yay! the DH got another silver for his IPPT. all that jogging has not been in vain. too bad there's not congratulatory kiss for him since my cold sore is scabbing up. i'm not taking any chances.

after i successfully made transfers onto polymer clay last week, i've been on a roll. even when i was dead tired from work everyday i must do a little everynight. heeheehee!

these are my latest factory outputs. a bunch of transfers and a few more beads.

there are some more sugar rolls, a few more cupcakes, ice cream cones, oreos, choc chip cookies, eggs in nests and me favourite, Poo! with2 flies each. click on pic to see close up.

the rain's been messing up my laundry. during the rest of the week it's sunny all morning and afternoon with rain in the evening. on laundry day it decides to rain right after i've finished 4 loads of bedsheets and cloths. aiyah! i have to bring everything indoors to dry them with a fan.

the mao mao seems to like this idea though. she can play hide and nap amongst the bedsheets.

i'm going to make more earrings with my new food beads.

all excited and bored at the same time

my company's DnD came and went.

so this is what i wore. the back of what i wore.

it took me over an hour to get my hair done cos i've never done it before and i tried about 3 times. and it took me probaby 10 mins for make up and another 15 to get dressed. hee.

and these are my main people at work.

we all look so lovely that night. and then the next day we all felt crappy from a late sunday night. haha. i had a full blown tummy flu which rendered me bed ridden. crap ya.

~.~.~.~.~.~

i found me a new project. or rather it's something that i have been trying to do for the longest time cos i wanna make pendants and stuff. so what i used to do was to make copies onto photo paper, cut them out and encase them with my favourite media (superglue) onto pendant frames. like these

however, the glue will dissolve the pictures a little so they will smudge. meh.

back to this new and exciting polymer clay transfer method. basically you just stick your picture onto the clay and then the ink will transfer. but there are different ways of doing it. like right now i will need a laser color printer to have my images printed out since i do not want to buy t-shirt transfers. as always, i'd like to use the least amount of money to accomplish my task. heheh. i'm getting the DH to print at his office since my office printer only prints black n white. boo!

techniques here

i'm trying to make these into pendants. hopefully i'm not infringing into some IP issues as these are old old prints.

anway, i spent a better part of friday compiling them onto word and then a better part of sunday compiling them again on photoshop since i can only do limited editing on word. :P

i can sure waste a sunday away.

i will survive

the day has passed (well there's another 4 hours till bedtime) and i've survived a full bikini wax. and that's it. i didn't survive the shop that i got the wax from. i ended up with a $$$ cream that's suppose to slow down and reduce hair growth.

i also didn't survive spotlight. i got away with 2 peach (senso has pretty bright colors) and one gold (panda) cotton yarn, a box of buttons, a meter of sofa fabric, and scrap of purple cloth. $$$

i wanted to get the corn and bamboo yarns too but i'm not sure what to do with them yet.

started on making my halter with the new peach yarn. hopefully there'll be no more changes. ergh!!

i think i'm going to hide my credit cards again.

stock taking

wanted to take a photo of all my unfinished projects, but think will take some time taking them out. i shall list them instead.

bright pink cable bag
fushia pink rose bag
green fuzzy bag
turquiose blue bobble bag
blue flower big bag

cream bolero from a japanese pattern book

numerous earrings to finish up and post

and right now i'm starting a new halter top. made lots of prototypes, with a blue cotton and a bright fushia pink thing but they don't work. so right now i'm contemplating going out to look for a nice color. can't decide to go spotlight or golden dragon. also cannot decide on a color. pink? yellow? green? not blues. don't feel like browns.. tough leh

i also want to make me a tissue holder. *feels guilty for wanting to do so many things*

the lavender plant needs to be replanted.

also made appointment to go for a full brazilian wax *ish scared* however, i will pass by HMV so i can get the other jose gonzaleas album. *imagines psychedelic colors*

o.0 that would be a nice halter color. or yellow and white shades.. hmmm.... will go spotlight first then.

*crosses fingers*

it's been a good day

yup, everytime the DH is about to go away for a long trip he is extremely nice to me. today we went out for lunch and came back with 4 bags. it's not all my purchases though. he got a pair of shoes and a pair of slacks. i got me some cute Ts from Pull n Bear and another white cardi from Forever21. :P

i had the trippest dream this morning. i remember going to my grandmother's, and they've moved from the 4th floor to another apartment upstairs. (the flat that my grandmother used to stay had only 4 storeys high, and there wasn't any elevators). anyways, my cousin and i went up in the tiniest lift ever. it was only enough to fit 3 persons, standing side by side, with the door opening at one end. i felt pretty claustrophobic then... which the dream morph into my mum coming to our place while we're still sleeping in the morning and she was in an A-line purple dress... to which there was another shift and there was a performance and i don't remember much of that except that we were trying to depicts the 4 seasons and there was a thing representing each of the seasons with some lovely stage set changes. i think most of them were a female person except for winter, which was represented by a white fox. and when the fox came on stage, you could see the bare silver branches of trees popping up, the silvery moon in the air and we were tracking in the snow while a chilly wind was blowing snow all over, and we were covering ourselves with hoodies and scarves... and then i woke up. trippy. *listens to new CD*

let me rave about me new face scrub/mask thing. it's from The FAce shop. Peeling day-Honey black sugar. the scrub isn't something that i'm used to (many granules) but it smell fantastic of sugar and honey. today it smelt like those tapioca pearls from bubble tea. yummy. the one from skin food Black Sugar Mask is actually better (for me).

new charms are up for sale.

chinese new year rush

today is chu(1) 4. *thinks* ya.. i'm so tired. omg. we've literally been out of the house for the past 3 days, and there's another place to go later. well, i intend to be fashionably late. having a car means you want to cover as many places as possible. we've been around the whole island, from tampines to woodlands to bukit batok and back into hougang again.. all in one day. either that or its hougang to bukit timah. today we go toa payoh. *dies*

on the flipside, having a car is great! i got to visit the nurseries at thomson even though it was pouring but we got to play pretend at being romantic while looking at flowers. the chill room at far east flora is a must go if you love to 'frolic among the roses'. i got me 2 bunches of roses at $14 for 20 stalks and hydrangeas blooms at 6$ each! w00t!

the ones in front are pink and cream while the taller ones are yam (like the ones we had for our wedding last year). i had such a long time choosing the hydrangeas cos they had all the lovely colors like pinks and purples and whites and in between antique blues. OoOoOoOoooo.. the DH left me in there cos it was soooo cold.

the place was so worth the visit that we went back again after having dinner on tuesday night :P just for a after dinner stroll...and i got a pot of lavender plant, after thinking long and hard.

see exhibit B on the right. that's the one we bought. apparently it's been imported from italy. the sad looking lot on the left (A) are the ones i've been trying to grow from seed since last year augest. those are the hokkaido variety, but i think they smell better.

we also saw rosemary plants. it was very tempting but i still have a boxful of the dried stuff at home. maybe next time.

we also got a pot of chili plant at another nusrsery on sunday near my mums.

it's really cute but i think the plant is dying. the leaves are shriveling up and i'm am sure that it's well watered. maybe it just doesnt like the house.

random note: my braces are cutting into my skin.

all these plants are cluttering up the place. and contribute to my CNY decorations. time to say ooooo.....

new curtain ties in yellow with little oranges

the pussy willow flowered so i quickly poured the water away. i like them to stay white and fluffy.

mao mao was sleeping happy on the freshly laundered table cloth till she puked on it.

it's QL's birthday. HAPpPpY BirThdAY!!! hoped you liked all your pressies. i'm sure this is a good day since the BOSS is not here today and we can all relax and have a quiet time.

tomorow is my presentation and i'm being super duper lazy. i've got most of the stuff down but i need to read up some stuff. however! *thunder rolls* , i found this site instead. hehehe Ultra Kawaii!!!

it's lovely. some of the episodes are in shockwave flash that means i can watch it at work. (we're banned from all streaming media and loads of fabulous sites.

using the mac to blog is not happening. a lot of my functions are unavailable. tsk.

i'm goign back to watch vids. toodleloos...

a little panic

i've been away from the net a long time ya. we are still not sure if it's the network or the router. nyeh! and also we've been obsessed with Coffee Prince. it's darn funny and sad and sweet too. go watch. you'd be addicted too.

i have also been in a mad rush since last christmas ever since i got my Happy Hooker book. and i made 3 fat bottomed bags so far. :P

this was the 2nd bag made but i lined it first. and horribly lined too. so i cut it off and now it's sitting there unfinished again.

the lining was too small for the bag. :(

i completed making the body of the grey one on the 1/1/2008 :P but i never got to lining it until i made my mum do it for me 2 weeks ago. heehee. i've been happily using it for the past week. i love it!

the gold one is the 3rd i've made and i completed it whole last weekend. lining, handles and all. but i think i shall put a button on it today because it can't seem to close completely. hopwfully i can make another one for my mil by CNY.

the cat is loving the gold raffia. she likes the shinies.

resident cat taking her nappies in the bush. awwww...

we were in chinatown last night and it so happens to be the official light up ceremony. MM Goh was there. so were all these lions. there were amusing all lined up on the street.

ah.. time to go lunch soon. i'm going to be busy again trying to make a bunch of things by CNY and Valentine's day. and i still need to get me some new togs for CNY. and VD present. and some VD cupckaes. and finished redecorating the house. and lining pink FBB for tues. and managing my yahoo auction. OMG. you prolly will not see me for a while again.

random monday photos

i uploaded the pictures i took with my new phone. it's much easier now since i can take out the memory card and use a thumbdrive. better than my old one anyways.

this here is very large bowl of pomegranate seeds from 1 very large pomegranate. it took me 2 days to finish them all by myself. not one else bothers to eat this stuff. the ruby red seeds are very pretty. yummy too. i wonder if pomegranate is heaty...

this is the resident cat of our block. she's such a pretty thing. many people feed her so i don't. but she liks the occasional mr. bean ice cream. i do too. :)

these 2 are always together. sure a lovely pair. nope... they're both girls. one is older than the other. not mother and child.

girl girl is desperate for a good scratch after wearing the elizabeth collar for 2 weeks. she's all better now but previously she had a huge gash on her derriere and saw lice.. whatever those things are.

it's cold out

and i don't want to go out. i'm going to spend today updating stuff. i've been obsessed with more clay cupcakes in my absence.

i was honing my micro drawing skillz! check out the details on the cakes. i tried to duplicate the designs on my toes. and as you can see, i'm into the peacock green/turquoise this time.

i've used up a few to make earrings and phone charms. if you like the have plain ones please let me know before i turn them into 'zngged' earrings.

i've also made more earrings and bracelets. including some presents.

this was rushed out for YY. they're way to adorable.

i'm in korea btw. :) it looks like china.. like any place that has land. low buildings. large sky :)) cold and gray. the cold makes me itch because of the dry skin. so i have to moisterise, which is something that i never do back in sg. this adds another 3o mins to my showering routine.

back to more tidying up of my stock. still thinking of a way to organise my shop. however i can't seem to find a way on this blog to make thumbnails so i guess you guys will have to just surf through the whole thing.

hope the DH gets off work soon so we can go out for dinner.

precious weekend

why does the weekend has to be so short? there's so many things that i want to do and my day job is in the way. :P

the fat bottom bag is getting to me. i really must have the pattern! last night we stopped at the national library only to find that their have a non existant crochet section?! NLB is sucky. but we did a check and found that the bishan branch has 3 and they are all on loan but the tampinese branch has one is available. and we also discovered that if we were to reserve it, there's a 1.55$ charge when we collect. eep! maybe later i'll make a trip down instead to try my luck.

then we went and got me a new mobile. scary q at M1 bugis. thanks a lot to the DH!

otherwise, the week's been rather quiet. however, i went to the bead shops on wednesday and promptly went berserk. so we got me some new things to put up at the shop.

i did try my hands again at making 'claypot' rice with 2 chicken legs. legs had been soaked O/N with chinese rice wine, then a dash of balsamic vinegar, rosemary, sesame seed oil, pepper and salt. i think that's it. east-west fusion marinade. cook rice with salted fish, garlic and soacked mushrooms. when the rice is cooked i added a bit more water plus the chicken and it's sauce. so the rice came out soggy agian. *sighs*

tastes good though. next time need dark soy sauce and less water. gah!

yesterday at NTUC i decided to purchase a bottle of the Manuka honey. when i opened it i thought that it had a wax layer protecting the surface, but i tasted it and realise that it's the honey. i didn't know that the consistency is so thick. it's got a woodsy grassy taste. quite yummy.

see the hole i gouged out. amazing!

this is how the tree looks like now. it's full of odds and ends type of decorations. cool ya?

long friday

i'm not sure if it is a good thing that i don't have any work to do at work. time passes real slo0oOOow. i swear that my derrières was aching from all that sitting down. and eyes were really dry for the past few days and i can't sleep with the bosses coming in and out of the room.

the DH is on the flight now. whee... i will get to see him in another few hours... like at 6 in the morning.

made a few more earrings from the cupcake charms.

cold sore have dried, but i still suspect that there's another one.

*contemplates making christmas ornaments*

evergreen and losing weight

i measured my waistline. it's now 28 going to 29 inches. GOOD GOSH!... and my hips used to be only 30 pushing 31. now it's 35 inches! *faints*

the acupuncture got rid of quite a fair bit of air though. when i look down i don't see such a large mountain anymore.

4 sessions = 1 month. i was told i need at least 3 months to see substantial belly lost. hiaz...

it's only mid november and our tree is all set up! I LOVE THIS TREE! it's got branches sticking out every where and looks like the real thing.

i'm not crazy about the white led lights, too painful to the eyes. those snow flakes i crocheted months ago came in handy, so did those tiny little wooden ornaments from hong kong. i even put up the felt cakes!

it already looks laden with ornaments but i am sure we're going to get some more.

Thursday, November 8, 2007

a nice long productive day

first off... yahoo music took of uber indie station!!! *wails* no more interesting little ditties for me. :(

spent the whole day making cuppy cakes and some other stuff. oh dear. i wanted to mail somebody. maybe in a while.

last night i baked a batch of the directly on the alu for the required 30 mins on 130oC. look what happened!

it burnt the bottom of the cakes!... the effect looks rather good i must say, but it did rather destroy the psychedelic look i was trying to achieve.

anyways, i finished making all 10 i started last night and are in various process of glazing and drying.

sometimes the glaze dosen't dry as well as i like. it leaves a sticky feeling. is it because the clay has not been cooked for long enough? these will be double glazed, which means more drying time and i have to do them slower. unless i want to make more hooks.

experiment with making 2 min eggs didn't go well.. will repeat.

forgot to add handles to my milo cup.

pie making not as smooth as i liked but did salvage 2 slices.

white frosting not very exciting looking, chocolate also. dull. stronger contrasting colors work best.
